Most of us would connect the city with high crime rates – but the numbers from a major rural insurer, to show that the landscape can not be people when it comes to home insurance and lax security of their property.
According to the insurer, there was an increase of 14.7 percent in the number of thefts of landscape features in the United Kingdom in 2008. One of the trends that have led this increase is the theft of domestic oil tanks with central heating as rises in oil prices haveleaving many motorists and homeowners felt.
The trend continued in 2009 with the Freedom of Information Act reveal that nearly two thirds of police forces in England and Wales showed an increase in thefts over the past three months compared to the same period last year.
As such, owners are encouraged to check their home insurance and ensure that they provide adequate levels of coverage in place. This means verifying that sufficient fundsfor all objects in their homes – including their most recent additions. Homeowners should check to cover the extension of the garden and see exactly what it covers, particularly where expensive tools, ornaments or plants.
From there, the house should look at adding to safety at home with the bonuses that could earn them a discount on their insurance policies at home.
